Weight gain is what worries the mother the most after giving birth. Despite the normal weight gain of up to 15 kg during pregnancy, it is difficult to accept emotionally for many women, as the mother loses the ability to separate the truth from reality related to weight control after birth.   There are many points that the mother is supposed to take into consideration regarding her weight gain, including

Knowing the normal rate of weight gain during pregnancy, which ranges between 6.8 - 13.6 kg, but it may vary depending on the mother’s weight before pregnancy. It should also be noted that the mother loses approximately 4.5 kg of her weight during childbirth, which represents the weight of the fetus, the placenta and amniotic fluid. She also loses more in the first week following birth to get rid of fluids retained in the body

Avoid following the myths that state that weight must be lost quickly after giving birth to ensure good results. In fact, the body needs a long period of time that may reach several years to regain its normal weight without the need for worry, and the speed of weight loss depends on several factors, including the mother’s exposure to complications during pregnancy and childbirth, which affects her ability to move and weakens her strength and will, and the thyroiditis that follows childbirth and is the cause. Difficulty in losing weight, and finally, the mother suffering from any medical condition before or after pregnancy and her dependence on drugs that affect the process of weight loss after childbirth

Avoid following the system or program that is known as the best for regaining weight after childbirth, due to the multiple factors that affect the weight loss process and the lack of research that sheds light on the best program or system for regaining weight, especially in the case of breastfeeding
